Art in Sheep Class

This half term we are exploring watercolour through the work of artist Paul Klee. Inspired by Klee’s abstract style, children played with bold lines, shapes and bright colours. Children really took their time and enjoyed the process. We think they did an amazing job. Well done Sheep Class!

A Fireside Nativity

The whole school came together to perform this year’s Christmas play. They sang beautifully and wowed us all with their confidence performing on stage for the first time in many years. Thanks to children, staff and parents for making the day so magical. As we break up for end of term we would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all back in the new year.

Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumpers

We all had a delicious Christmas lunch together, which we enjoyed whilst wearing our Christmas jumpers! The sticky toffee pudding was especially yummy! Afterwards the children had a fun playtime in the snow and frost ❄️🌨

Re-enacting the Shabbat Meal

This half term Sheep Class has been learning about some Jewish family traditions. We learned that the day of rest, Shabbat, is a day for families to come together, switch off all electronic devices and enjoy telling stories and playing games. Our Reception children have been very busy preparing for the Shabbat family meal by baking bread and decorating special candle holders for the table. All of the children enjoyed decorating their own ‘Kiddush’ cup to drink the traditional grape juice. We lit a candle and had some time together for reflection, listening to a story and thinking about how we like to spend time with our own families on the weekend.

A Visit to Forest School

This week Years 1 and 2 are learning to write a recount and decided to base it on a visit to Forest School with our Reception children. They planned the visit themselves and together, agreed on the following activities: a bug hunt, building a bug shelter, a colour hunt and a hot chocolate treat! The older children were excited to show the little ones around and were super in modelling the expected behaviours. All of our Reception children really impressed the grown ups with their great listening skills. We are looking forward to sharing some of the wonderful writing that we know will come out of the session as our older children recount the visit. Great teamwork Sheep!

PE in Sheep Class

This week we have been practising a seated static balance, which we discovered is a lot harder than it looks! Children started their balance with one leg and one hand on the floor, progressing to no hands and no feet! All children did really well with this. We practised picking up a cone, swapping hands and placing it on the other side. Even trickier was to pick up the cone from arm’s distance away. The final challenge was holding the V-shape with straight arms and legs for 10 seconds as demonstrated by the children. This really worked the core muscles and got us all wobbling. We challenge grown ups at home to have a go!

Out and about in North Elmham

Today we enjoyed a walk around the village, looking at the different types of houses and some of the shops and services on offer. We hope the walk will help us to create a simple street map of the village next week. All of the children walked really smartly and made us so proud – well done Sheep Class!
